Welcome toAntiques & Moore!
This listing is for an impressive vintage Estate silver cuff bracelet was hand made by Navajo silversmith Kakiki. This unusual oversized bracelet features two large polished cabochon turquoise stones with moss green coloration with copper spiderweb matrix that we believe is from the Royston Mine. Bracelet is also decorated with coral stone for contrast. The cabochon stones are set in hand-cut slightly serrated bezels surrounded with nicely detailed feather appliques as well as raindrops. This design stands in relief from the darkened silver background. There is also a long stylized black claw shape extending from the coral stone down one side of the bracelet.
On each side of the bracelet, the band is decorated with nicely detailed feathers in an openwork design. Marked with etched signature "Kakiki" on the inside of the top. We found no silver mark so we are unsure whether the silver is pure silver as we have not had it tested.
Measures 4 1/2" long (North to South) and 3 1/4" wide (East to West). The circumference of the inside of the bracelet is 8" (as shown) with a 1 1/4" opening. The bracelet will comfortably fit up to a 7 3/4" wrist. Weighs 136 grams.
This great bracelet is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws. The bracelet has naturally aged patina to the silver and has not been polished. There may be minor/faint signs of wear but nothing that we found wrong with this amazing bracelet. Wearing this one definitely makes a statement!
Background: Navajo silversmith Kakiki is said to have been active since the 1940's but we have not found any specific information about him. We believe this bracelet to date to the 1950's-70's period. Please use your own judgment regarding its actual age.
