1910 VARIETY - New York City ORIGINAL Vaudeville THEATER MAGAZINE - RARE
This listing is for the original Variety magazine, pre talking pictures. It is pretty big, measuring 14" by 11.75". Interesting how they still use the same font for the title today. I could not find an example of this magazine available anywhere, however an example from 1918 recently sold here on Ebay though it was missing its entire cover. This mag from 1910 has some tears and frayed edges but in relatively good condition. This is part of a large estate I recently acquired from the grandson of Roy Arthur (Adolph Cohen) of Bedini & Arthur with Cantor in blackface Vaudeville. Eddie Cantor was discovered by Jean Benini & Roy Arthur in 1911 where he performed with them "unbilled" for a year. After that, Cantor became perhaps the biggest star in the world, in his heyday. Included in this listing is a period business card from Bedini & Arthur and a couple of Eddie Cantor's personal envelopes.
