Description
I am pleased to offer today this ONE OF A KIND handmade, artist signed stunning piece which can be worn as a brooch or a pendant.  It is a circa late 1960s to early 1970s vintage modernist / brutalist  piece, very heavy and well made in the style of Arthur King.  King's freeform style of creating mesmerizing organic jewelry from raw, uncut gemstones and solid 14 and 18k gold, paved the way for groundbreaking trends in the 1960s and 1970s.  I am quite sure that the artisan who created this amazing piece had studied Arthur King's work.
This emerald and diamond pin/pendant is very large and heavy, at 2.5" long by 1.25" wide and 22.4 grams.  Our jeweler mentioned it was made in the "lost wax casting process", a special technique that Arthur King used to cast the gold in this freeform, open manner.
The large emerald is a Chatham emerald (grown in a lab), and is left in its crystalline form. It's impossible to determine the carat weight of this stone in its current form, but it's BIG.  It's set in long curved prongs which become part of the design.  High quality full-cut diamonds are randomly set at the ends of the golden arms.  The diamonds total approximately .50 ctw and are graded as G color and VS2 to SI1 clarity by our experienced estate jeweler.  The pin stem is well-hidden behind all of the gold, so that you can just thread a chain through it and wear it as a pendant, as I've shown.  CHAIN IN PHOTOS IS NOT INCLUDED HERE.
This work of art measures 2.5" top to bottom, by 1 1/4" side to side. It's signed in script "Ch" and also signed 14k. It weighs a massive 22.4 grams, and is in excellent vintage condition.
